Apple Laptop Computers

The apple laptop computer is slightly different than its PC both in look and price. In general an apple laptop computer is a lot more expensive and it can access less programs on the Internet. Still in terms of being a user-friendly laptop nothing beats an apple laptop computer. The best thing about them is they never get viruses, which means that your apple laptop computer never crashes like a PC.

The first apple laptop computer was known as the Powerbook and was sold by Apple Computer (now known as just Apple Inc.) from 1991. Since it’s inventions this apple laptop computer has gone through several major reincarnations. Often the apple laptop computer had innovative features that would later be standard on all types of personal computers. The Powerbook was disbanded in 2006 and replaced by the Intel-based MacBook and MacBook Pro. Despite the big change inside, this newer apple laptop computer still looks a lot like the old Powerbooks.

The most groundbreaking of the early apple laptop computers were launched in 1991 and included the low-end PowerBook 100, the more powerful PowerBook 140, and the high end PowerBook 170. These machines were distinguished by their compact dark grey cases, use of a trackball, and the clever positioning of the keyboard, which left room for a wrist to rest. These much-imitated machines were successful and captured 40% of all of the laptops sold on the market.

In 1992, the innovative Apple Computer company released a hybrid portable/desktop computer, the PowerBook Duo. This was a very thin and lightweight apple laptop computer with a minimum of features that could be inserted into a docking station to provide the system with extra video memory. This is one of very few machines by apple that did not sell before. The PowerBook 5300 did not do too well either as it was one of the first laptop computer designs to use the flammable lithium ion batteries and word got around that it could burst into flames. The unit did not really survive this bad publicity.

Apple recovered from the 5300 debacle in 1996 and 1997 by introducing three new PowerBooks: the PowerBook 1400, intended to replace the 5300 as a general-purpose PowerBook; the PowerBook 2400, that is a slim version of the PowerBook Duo; and the never experienced before luxury model PowerBook 3400. The PowerBook 1400 and 3400 were in fact the first PowerBooks ever to include an internal CD drive. This was quickly followed by the G3, G4 and G5 notebooks which were powerful computers that also served as entertainment centers with inbuilt DVD players, cameras and graphic features that are still not rivaled by anyone else.

In October 2005, the two higher-end PowerBooks were upgraded with higher-resolution displays and faster 533 MHz DDR2 (PC2-4200) memory. The SuperDrive is now standard equipment on apple laptop computers. If you are interested in buying these state of the art apple laptop computers the best place to purchase them is probably the apple website or at a qualified retailer.
